Education
"That land is a community is the basic concept of ecology,
but that land is to be loved and respected is an extension of ethics.
That land yields a cultural harvest is a fact long known,
but latterly often forgotten."
- Aldo Leopold, "A Sand County Almanac"
The goal of environmental education is to develop a population that is aware of,
and concerned about, the environment and its associated problems,
and which has the knowledge, skills, attitudes, motivations and commitment
to work individually and collectively toward solutions of current problems
and the prevention of new ones.
--UNESCO Occassional Paper 31
LSCWC has adopted the UNESCO goal of environmental education as direction
for providing basin wide information and learning opportunities consistant with our Mission.
